AI Project Manager

Run our client engagements end to end, from signed scope to a shipped AI feature and a clean handover. You keep scope honest, the team unblocked and the client clear on what is happening and why.

About the role

What this job actually is.

AI projects go wrong in predictable ways. Scope drifts because nobody agreed what good looks like. Launches slip because evaluation was left to the end. Clients lose confidence because they cannot see progress. You are the person who stops that from happening.

You will own delivery on several client engagements at once. You turn a signed proposal into a plan, run the weekly rhythm with the client, keep our designers and engineers focused, and make sure every feature ships with a way to measure it.

You do not need to write code or design screens. You do need to understand how AI features are built well enough to spot risk early, ask the right question in a review, and explain a tradeoff to a client in plain words.

What you'll do

The work you will own.

A typical engagement asks for all of this. Some weeks lean harder on one part than another.

  1. 01Own delivery for several client engagements at once, from kickoff to handover.
  2. 02Turn a signed proposal into a plan with milestones, owners and a clear definition of done for each feature.
  3. 03Run the client rhythm: kickoff, weekly check-ins, written status updates and milestone reviews.
  4. 04Keep scope honest. Spot change early, explain the tradeoff and get a written decision before the team starts.
  5. 05Plan evaluation, review and launch steps into the timeline from day one, not the last week.
  6. 06Track risks, dependencies and blockers across design, engineering and the client's own team, and clear them.
  7. 07Make sure every shipped feature has an agreed metric and a way to report on it after launch.
  8. 08Run retrospectives and turn what we learn into better templates and habits for the next engagement.
What you bring

The bar for this role.

Don't meet every line? Apply anyway. We hire for judgment over a checklist.

Must have

  • 5 or more years managing software projects, with at least 2 years in a client facing agency or consultancy role.
  • A track record of shipping digital products on time with design and engineering teams you did not directly manage.
  • Working knowledge of how AI features are built: model APIs, retrieval, evaluation and why they fail.
  • Confident with clients. You can deliver bad news early and clearly, and keep the relationship strong.
  • Excellent written English. Most of our communication is async and written.
  • Organised by habit, with a light touch on process. You add structure where it helps and nowhere else.

Nice to have

  • You have managed the launch of an AI feature and can talk about what went wrong and what you changed.
  • A background in design, engineering or product before moving into delivery.
  • Experience working across time zones with fully remote teams.
  • Familiarity with product analytics, so you can help set up the metric a feature is meant to move.
Tools you'll use
  • Linear
  • Notion
  • Figma, reading level
  • Slack
  • Google Workspace
  • Product analytics

A clear path from joining to leading, with a senior partner beside you the whole way.

Join active engagements, learn how we scope, review and report, and take over the weekly client rhythm on one of them.

  2. By day 60

    Own delivery

Run one engagement end to end: the plan, the client relationship, the risks and the milestone reviews.

  3. By day 90

    Improve the system

Own delivery across several engagements and improve our kickoff, status and handover templates based on what you have seen.
