Design role

Senior Product Designer

Design the AI layer inside established products: assistants, search, copilots and the quiet automations users never notice. You decide where AI earns a place on the screen, and where it does not.

  • Senior
  • Full-time
  • Remote
About the role

What this job actually is.

Our clients already have a product in market and people who use it every day. Your job is to find the moments in that product where AI would genuinely help, then design an experience that fits the workflow instead of floating above it.

You will work on one or two client products at a time, from the first discovery session to the shipped interface. You sit next to strategy at the start and next to engineering at the end, so the thing that ships is the thing you designed.

This is a senior role in a small team. Nobody will hand you a ticket with a finished spec. You will be trusted to frame the problem, make the call, and defend it with evidence.

What you'll do

The work you will own.

A typical engagement asks for all of this. Some weeks lean harder on one part than another.

  1. 01Lead the experience design of the AI layer on one or two client products at a time, end to end.
  2. 02Run discovery with the client team: walk the product, read support tickets, map the workflows where users slow down or give up.
  3. 03Turn a strategic opportunity into flows, states and prototypes the client can react to within days, not weeks.
  4. 04Design for the hard parts of AI: loading and streaming states, confidence, errors, empty results, undo and human review.
  5. 05Extend the client's design system with components their own team can keep using after we leave.
  6. 06Pair with our engineers through implementation and review the build until it matches the intent.
  7. 07Write down design decisions so the client, and the next designer, understand why a choice was made.
  8. 08Give and take direct feedback in senior review. Every piece of work is seen by another senior person before it ships.
What you bring

The bar for this role.

Don't meet every line? Apply anyway. We hire for judgment over a checklist.

Must have

  • 5 or more years designing product interfaces, with work shipped to real users that you can walk us through.
  • Strong interaction and systems thinking. You design components, states and edge cases, not isolated screens.
  • Expert in Figma, including variables, auto layout and prototyping for complex flows.
  • Comfortable structuring an ambiguous problem before anyone has defined the solution.
  • A clear point of view on where AI belongs in a product, and the evidence to back it.
  • Clear written English. We work async, and design decisions get written down.

Nice to have

  • You have designed AI features before, such as assistants, search, recommendations or document tools.
  • Experience with data heavy products: dashboards, admin tools, booking or operations software.
  • Enough HTML, CSS or React to prototype an interaction in code when Figma is not enough.
  • You have built or maintained a design system used by more than one team.
Tools you'll use
  • Figma
  • FigJam
  • Prototyping in Figma or code
  • Design systems
  • React and Tailwind, optional
Your first 90 days

How you will ramp up.

A clear path from joining to leading, with a senior partner beside you the whole way.

  1. First 30 days

    Learn the way we work

Shadow an active engagement, learn our design system and review process, and ship your first scoped piece of design with a senior partner.

  2. By day 60

    Own a workstream

Lead the design of one feature on a client product, from discovery notes to a reviewed prototype the client signs off.

  3. By day 90

    Lead an engagement

Run the design side of a client engagement on your own, with senior review as a safety net rather than a checkpoint.
